Kellerasseln gehören zu den häufigsten „Mitbewohnern“ in feuchten Kellern, Waschküchen oder Erdgeschossbereichen. Meist sind sie kein gefährlicher Schädling, sondern ein Hinweis auf erhöhte Feuchtigkeit und organisches Material. Hier erfährst du, wie du Kellerasseln erkennst, warum sie auftreten und wie du sie langfristig reduzierst.

Was sind Kellerasseln?

Kellerasseln sind keine Insekten, sondern Krebstiere. Sie benötigen Feuchtigkeit, weil sie über Kiemenstrukturen atmen und schnell austrocknen. Deshalb halten sie sich bevorzugt in dunklen, feuchten Bereichen auf – z. B. im Keller, unter Blumentöpfen oder in Bodennähe.

Sind Kellerasseln schädlich?

In den meisten Fällen richten Kellerasseln keinen klassischen Schaden an. Sie ernähren sich überwiegend von abgestorbenen Pflanzenresten und organischem Material. In sehr großen Mengen können sie jedoch als lästig empfunden werden und bei sehr feuchten Bedingungen Material (z. B. Papier/Karton) indirekt begünstigt schädigen, weil Feuchtigkeit ohnehin das Hauptproblem ist.

Nützlinge & natürliche Gegenspieler

Im Außenbereich sind Asseln sogar nützlich, weil sie organisches Material zersetzen. Natürliche Gegenspieler sind z. B. Spinnen, Laufkäfer und andere räuberische Bodenbewohner. Im Keller ist jedoch die wichtigste „Lösung“ immer: Feuchtigkeit reduzieren.

Warum das wirkt: Asseln brauchen ein feuchtes Milieu. Wenn der Keller trockener wird, fehlt die wichtigste Lebensgrundlage – die Population geht meist von allein zurück.

Woher kommen Kellerasseln?

Oft wandern sie von draußen ein (Garten, Lichtschacht) oder sie sind bereits vorhanden, wenn das Klima im Keller dauerhaft feucht ist. Sie folgen Feuchtigkeit und organischem Material.

Warum tauchen sie besonders nach Regen auf?

Regen erhöht die Feuchte in Lichtschächten, Bodennähe und Kellern. Asseln suchen dann geschützte, feuchte Bereiche.

Sollte ich mir Sorgen machen?
